Hey there! I'm Crystal from Marching North :)

🀧 Brought to you by β€œthe crud”

Hey Reader πŸ‘‹

Well, this week did not go according to plan. As per usual, hah.

Our whole family has been dealing with "the crud", aka the never ending cold/sinus infection/what-have-you.

So... I've been doing the only reasonable thing I could think of, which is crocheting, reading, and trying to stay on top of throwing away the never ending piles of toilet paper all over the house from blowing our noses. 🀧

The good news is that being stuck on the couch is great for crochet productivity.

I'm working on not one but two crochet patterns at the same time, one's off to get tech edited, and the other's on deck. And I almost have all the samples done!

That's kind of a world record for me. πŸ˜…

I can't say much more yet, but you'll see one of them next Friday. πŸ‘€

Our tree goes up Sunday (never before Halloween, that's the rule around here), so I've got Christmas makes on the brain. (And it's only going up that early because I need it for a photoshoot, lol.)

Anyway, speaking of Christmas stuff, check this one out!

πŸ“Œ FROM THE BLOG

Easy Boho Macrame Christmas Tree

I love this little tree because you can finish it in about an hour. That's about all the attention span I have this time of year.

It's a mini wall hanging, about 14 inches long, and it only uses five beginner friendly knots. You can even use up some of your longer scraps of cord.

The step people skip: after you tie the wrapping knot at the base, pull each cord one at a time to take out the slack.

Do it before you trim the fringe, because once it's cut, you can't fix it.

The video, the supply list, and every step are in the blog post.

❀️ FROM THE BLOG

Easy Crochet Hearts (that double as ornaments)

Crochet friends, this one's for you. These little hearts come in 3 sizes, and even the biggest one only takes 5 to 10 minutes.

That means you could make a dozen while a holiday movie plays.

The ornament trick: give each heart a spritz of fabric starch so it holds its shape, then tie on a loop of ribbon.

They're perfect for the tree, a gift topper, or a stocking stuffer.

πŸŽ„ MAKER'S PICK

The Elves' Workshop (free!)

I'm teaching at the Elves' Workshop, a free online holiday craft summit running November 10 to 12.

It has 32 workshops on handmade gifts, cards, and ornaments.

My presentation is a coiled gift basket you fill with homemade hot cocoa mix, so the wrapping is part of the gift.

Each day's workshops are free to watch until 9 AM Eastern the next morning, so you don't have to catch a start time.

Everyone who watches can grab my free Handmade Gift Basket Kit too, with the written basket pattern, my cocoa recipe, jar labels, and 8 gift tags.

That's it for this week!

I'll be over here finishing project number two and trying to talk my family into hanging ornaments on the tree in some kind of logical order. πŸŽ„

Hope your weekend is cozy, uncongested, and full of crafty things.
