Hey Reader, Happy Monday! π I hope you're having a good one. I have some fun, macrame things to share with you today, so let's get right into it -- Make a Macrame Toy Hammock π§ΈLooking for a storage solution that incorporates your favorite crafty activity? Check out this free macrame toy hammock pattern!β This toy hammock is different than most, because it doesn't require a corner to work. You can hang it straight on the wall- which is nice if your room isn't set up with available corners for storing stuff. This picture was from my kids' old room, and there weren't any good corners for storing toys. The closet doors were in the way on one side, and it just wasn't convenient on the other end of the room. I made ours extra long, because they have a ton of plushies to store, but you could make it shorter too and it would work just fine. Just use less cords! (But make sure to keep it at a multiple of 4 so you can do the square knot pattern.)
Macrame Inspiration of the Day πΌOne of the most awesome things about macrame is the simplicity of it, and the ability to take something so simple and make it look deceptively complex. Take these beautiful macrame angel wings, for example. The whole thing is literally made with two knots. Two!! Not to mention, you can take a pattern like this one and tweak the spacing, the cord used, the color, and more to make completely different versions of the same concept. I just love the versatility of macrame, don't you? Creative Quote of the Day β¨βThe best use of imagination is creativity. The worst use of imagination is anxiety.β

This one really hits home. The same parts of our brain that allow us to come up with all kinds of creative, artistic things also can also end up coming up with all sorts of unnecessary anxiety that makes life really hard. In the last few years, I've come to see the absolutely transformative power of macrame to combat my anxiety. While it doesn't totally get rid of it (I mean it's a survival mechanism, I don't think it'll completely go away as much as I wish it would), it does distract me and help focus my thoughts on what I'm working on instead. Even if you don't struggle with anxiety, a mindfulness practice is beneficial to help you center yourself and feel more calm, peaceful, and ultimately, happier. π That's it for this one, I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day and I'll talk to you again soon! |
